Meredew Teak Sideboard Made Up Of 3 Drawers And Side Cabinet 1960s
This sideboard is made by Meredew. D Meredew Ltd, a little known British furniture maker, were a medium sized manufacturer in the 1960s and 70s.They were based in Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire . Having started out in London, Frederick Hard who was the owner brought some 50 families with him in 1914 to the new town of Letchworth . By 1938 they were employing 177 people . They produced less than G Plan, being a similar size to McIntosh and White and Newton. Like Austinsuite they mainly made bedroom furniture and sideboards.
This is a multi functional piece, ideal as either a sideboard, dressing table, or simply as an attractive piece for storage and display across the home.
With three drawers this Oak framed 1960's piece sits on tapered solid mid century splayed legs and is offered in good vintage condition with only minor marks and chips as pictured.
The blonde oak frame is set off beautifully by the teak veneered drawer and door fronts. Meredew were one of the first manufacturers to use teak, before McIntosh and G Plan.
This piece would go with other mid century, or modern furniture.
